Part-time jobs for students in North Cyprus
· KıbrısCV
Tens of thousands of university students live in North Cyprus and many look for part-time work. Students who are not TRNC citizens (Turkish citizens included) need a student work permit to work legally. Here are the rules and some practical tips.
Student work permit
The permit is issued by the Labour Department and is separate from your student residence permit. It is valid for 6 months to 1 year and must be renewed — it does not extend automatically.
- Original student certificate and a copy
- Valid student residence permit / visa
- Work request form completed by the employer
- Proof that the employer has no social insurance or provident fund debt
How many hours can I work?
According to local sources, students working off campus are limited to 20 hours a week; full-time work is not compatible with student status. On-campus roles may follow university-specific rules.
Where students work
- Cafés, restaurants and bars around campuses in Famagusta and Nicosia
- Hotels and tourism in Kyrenia and Iskele during the summer season
- Retail and supermarkets, often weekend shifts
- Tutoring and language teaching
- On-campus jobs in libraries and labs
