How to prepare for a job interview: common questions and how to answer them
· KıbrısCV
Getting invited to an interview is half the job; the interview is where the difference is made. Good preparation reduces nerves and helps you present yourself well.
Before the interview
- Re-read the job ad and prepare a short example for each required skill.
- Research the company on its KıbrısCV page, website and social media.
- Confirm place, time, who you will meet and what to bring.
- Plan your route and aim to arrive 15 minutes early.
Common questions
| Question | For a good answer |
|---|---|
| Tell us about yourself. | Education, most relevant experience and why you want this job — in 1–2 minutes. |
| Why this role / why us? | Mention something specific you learned about the company. |
| Strengths and weaknesses? | Give an example for a strength; pick a real but manageable weakness and how you are improving. |
| Tell us about a difficult situation. | Situation – task – action – result. |
| Why did you leave your last job? | Stay positive; never criticise a former employer. |
| Salary expectations? | Give a researched range and ask whether it is net or gross. |
| Any questions for us? | Always ask 1–2: team, hours, training, first-month expectations. |
